Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to gather information about dialysis patients before surgical parathyroidectomy and compare that to two months after surgery to investigate what changes take place in muscle strength, and in their blood.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: parathyroidectomy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the changes that occur in dialysis patients who undergo a surgical procedure called parathyroidectomy. Parathyroidectomy is a surgery to remove parathyroid glands, which are small glands in the neck that help control calcium levels in the blood. The study aims to compare muscle strength and blood changes before and two months after the surgery.

Participants will undergo assessments of their muscle strength and blood tests before and after their parathyroidectomy surgery. These procedures will help researchers understand the impact of the surgery on the patients' physical condition and blood composition.

  • Who can participate: Participants aged 18 and older who are undergoing dialysis and scheduled for parathyroidectomy may be eligible for this study. Key eligibility factors include stable medical condition and no recent major surgeries.
  • Study details: Participants will have their muscle strength tested and blood samples taken both before and after the surgery. This allows researchers to observe any changes resulting from the surgery.
