Brief description of study.

The purpose of this ethnographic study is to explore the musical values of children's playground singing games in Southern Indiana in regards to what characteristics underlie their singing, movement, and clapping games; also, this research will explore if and how popular music, technology, world music, and formal classroom training are influencing these playground games.

The purpose of this ethnographic study is to explore the musical values of children's playground singing games in Southern Indiana in regards to what characteristics underlie their singing, movement, and clapping games; also, this research will explore if and how popular music, technology, world music, and formal classroom training are influencing these playground games.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the musical values of children's playground singing games in Southern Indiana. It looks at the characteristics that make up their singing, movement, and clapping games. The study also examines how popular music, technology, world music, and classroom training might be affecting these games.

Participants will be observed during their singing, movement, and clapping games on the playground. Researchers will note how these activities are influenced by external factors like popular music and technology.

  • Who can participate: Children aged 5 to 12 years who engage in playground singing, movement, and clapping games are eligible to participate.
  • Study details: Participants will be observed during their normal playground activities. No additional tasks are required from them.
