This study investigates how educational pamphlets are used by caregivers of women with dementia. It aims to understand how these caregivers make healthcare decisions for their loved ones. Caregivers will be randomly assigned to receive one of two different pamphlets to see how these materials might influence decision-making.
Participants in the study will take part in three interviews, either in person or over the phone. During these interviews, caregivers will be asked questions about their experiences in caregiving and making medical decisions. Participants will receive a $25 gift card for each interview completed.
- Who can participate: Caregivers aged 18 or older who speak English and have a telephone can participate if they care for a woman aged 75 or older with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias, and the patient is eligible for breast cancer screening with a primary care visit scheduled.
- Study details: Participants will be interviewed three times and asked about caregiving and medical decision-making. They will receive a $25 gift card after each interview.
