This study investigates the connection between early-onset idiopathic bilateral cataracts and a rare disease called Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis. Early-onset idiopathic bilateral cataracts are a condition where cloudy areas form in the lenses of both eyes at a young age without a known cause. Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis is a rare condition that can be treated, and this study aims to see how many people with these cataracts might have this disease.
Participants in the study will undergo specific medical assessments to determine if they have Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis. These assessments will include a review of medical history and possibly some laboratory tests to check for signs of the disease.
- Who can participate: Individuals diagnosed with early-onset idiopathic bilateral cataracts, typically under the age of 40, are eligible to participate.
- Study details: Participants will undergo medical assessments to determine if they have the rare disease. This may include a review of their medical history and specific laboratory tests.
