This project investigates the effect of beliefs about control on self-handicapping behaviors. In the current studies, we will manipulate beliefs about control and see the effect these manipulations have on behavioral self-handicapping.

This project investigates the effect of beliefs about control on self-handicapping behaviors. In the current studies, we will manipulate beliefs about control and see the effect these manipulations have on behavioral self-handicapping.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

This study investigates how beliefs about control can influence self-handicapping behaviors. Self-handicapping is when people create obstacles to their own success, often to protect their self-esteem if they fail.
Participants will experience different scenarios where beliefs about control are changed to see how this affects their behavior. This will help researchers understand the connection between control beliefs and self-handicapping.
- Who can participate: Participants aged 18-65, who are fluent in English and have no history of psychological disorders, are eligible to participate.
- Study details: Participants will be involved in activities where their beliefs about control are altered to observe changes in self-handicapping behavior.
