Detailed description of study
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Orthopaedic injury
-
Age: 18 years - 50 years
-
Gender: All

This study investigates the outcomes of two different transfusion strategies: liberal transfusion and conservative transfusion. Transfusion is when blood or blood products are given to a patient through a vein. Liberal transfusion means giving more blood, while conservative transfusion involves giving less.
Participants in this study will be assigned to one of the two study arms: liberal transfusion or conservative transfusion. The procedures will involve monitoring the health outcomes of participants after receiving the assigned transfusion strategy.
- Who can participate: Adults who have suffered any orthopedic trauma can participate. However, individuals who are currently pregnant, have a known heart condition, or are diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia are not eligible.
- Study details: Participants will be assigned to either a liberal transfusion arm or a conservative transfusion arm. They will receive blood transfusions according to the assigned strategy, and their health outcomes will be monitored.
