Evaluation of the clinical characteristics and management of hyperosmolar diabetic ketoacidosis
Study on Mixed Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic State and Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to identify background characteristics of patients meeting criteria for mixed HHS and DKA in an effort to understand the pathophysiology and treatment principles of hyperosmolar DKA.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to identify background characteristics of patients meeting criteria for mixed HHS and DKA in an effort to understand the pathophysiology and treatment principles of hyperosmolar DKA.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: hyperosmolar diabetic ketoacidosis
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates mixed Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic State (HHS) and Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), which are conditions that affect people with diabetes. Hyperosmolar refers to increased concentration of substances in the blood, while ketoacidosis is a serious diabetes complication where the body produces excess blood acids (ketones).
Participants will undergo various assessments to collect data on their background characteristics. These procedures help researchers understand the underlying processes and treatment approaches for hyperosmolar DKA.
- Who can participate: Eligibility criteria will be determined by the study team.
- Study details: Participants will complete health questionnaires and undergo physical exams to help researchers understand hyperosmolar DKA. No specific treatments or interventions are mentioned.
