Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to summarize the experience at IU health associated hospitals with robot-assisted nephrectomy to treat XGP in the past 10 years.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of robot-assisted nephrectomy in treating XGP, which stands for Xanthogranulomatous Pyelonephritis, at IU Health associated hospitals over the past decade. XGP is a rare type of chronic kidney infection that can lead to severe inflammation and damage to the kidney.

Participants in the study will undergo robot-assisted nephrectomy, a surgical procedure where a robot helps doctors remove a kidney. This study will review the experiences and outcomes of patients who have had this procedure to better understand its effectiveness and safety.

  • Who can participate: Participants should be individuals diagnosed with XGP who are candidates for nephrectomy. Age criteria and specific eligibility factors are not detailed but generally include adults who meet surgical requirements.
  • Study details: Participants will undergo a robot-assisted nephrectomy, using robotic technology to assist in the surgical removal of a kidney affected by XGP. The study aims to evaluate the procedure's effectiveness and safety by reviewing patient outcomes.
