Bariatric Surgery Database Built
Study on Bariatric Surgery Outcomes and Trends
Brief description of study.
Bariatric surgery has gained significant popularity and growth over the last two decades as it provides the most effective available treatment for obesity and associated conditions. In 2016, over 200,000 patients underwent bariatric procedures in the US alone and in 2017, IU North Hospital performed 300+ bariatric operation. History of bariatric surgery at Indiana University spans over 10 years and a database allows researchers to study the past to improve future outcomes.
ObjectivesEstablish a unified bariatric database for observation of trends and future retrospective studies. Observe program effectiveness and develop research perspectives.Specific Aims:
-Gather data of all patients who underwent bariatric surgeries performed at Indiana University health -Use data for future retrospective research studies
