Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects that youth sport parent coaches have on the experiences of youth sport participants. The study will aim to identify a youth sport participant's engagement in their sport and the type of motivational climate that their coach creates. The study will then analyze results to identify if a relationship exists between motivational climate type created by coaches and overall athlete engagement. Most notably, the study will analyze and compare results from three different sets of athletes that meet different conditions: athletes that have their parent as a head coach, athletes that have a teammate's parent as a head coach, and athletes that have neither their parent or a teammate's parent as a head coach.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects that youth sport parent coaches have on the experiences of youth sport participants. The study will aim to identify a youth sport participant's engagement in their sport and the type of motivational climate that their coach creates. The study will then analyze results to identify if a relationship exists between motivational climate type created by coaches and overall athlete engagement. Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates how having a parent as a coach affects young athletes in sports. It looks at how engaged the athletes are in their sport and the kind of motivational environment their coach provides. The study will compare three groups of athletes: those with their parent as the head coach, those with a teammate's parent as the head coach, and those with neither their parent nor a teammate's parent as the head coach.

Participants in the study will undergo assessments to measure their level of engagement in their sport and the type of motivational climate created by their coach. These assessments will help determine if there is a link between the motivational environment set by the coach and the athlete's overall involvement in their sport.
