Brief description of study.

Factories of the future require new kinds of workers - ones versed in creative problem-solving as well as a strong understanding on how to partner with robots, augmented and mixed reality (AR), and the Internet of Things (IoT) in their workflows. Today's manufacturers, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) struggle to keep pace with rapid changes in manufacturing, both in terms of technological advancements as well as the training required of their workforce. To help manufacturers thrive in a rapidly changing industry, we propose to develop a Physical-Reality-Simulation Platform (PRSP) that will allow them to simulate interactions between workers, robots, and machines. By integrating humans into the simulation to interact with real and virtual human-robot-machines (HRM), we can create, better predict, and harness innovations in technology and their impact on workflow processes.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates how a new platform can help factories of the future by allowing workers to interact with robots and machines in both real and virtual environments. The purpose is to understand how these interactions can improve workflows and help manufacturers keep up with technological advancements.

Participants will use a system called the Physical-Reality-Simulation Platform (PRSP) to simulate their interactions with robots and machines. This platform helps predict and improve how technology impacts work processes, making it easier for small and medium enterprises to adapt to changes.

  • Who can participate: This study is open to adults aged 18 and over who are involved in manufacturing processes. Participants should be familiar with basic technology used in manufacturing environments.
  • Study details: Participants will engage with a simulation platform that involves both real and virtual interactions with robots and machines. The study will involve understanding how these interactions can improve manufacturing processes. A placebo is not part of the study.
